Vurdiada is the name for a cultural, gastronomic-tourist and commercial event that takes place every autumn in Babušnica. The event has been held every year since 2012. At this event, the locals from the Luzhnica basin and its surroundings exhibit Vurda a traditional dairy specialty with a creamy texture and a slightly tangy taste (pure, with paprika, with mushrooms or with other combinations) and domestically produced dairy products, as well as other products (winter meat, pastries, dried meat products, cracklings, fried…). Every year, the most successful and original exhibitors are awarded.
Vurda is a traditional and specific milk product produced in Luznica (surroundings of Babušnica) and the Pirot region. Thanks to “Vurdijada”, many cooks and gastronomes heard about this product and visited Babušnica for the first time, and the production and sale of Vurda increased.
