The Pirot Ironed Sausage Fair is a top gastronomic event held every year in late January in Pirot, celebrating one of the most exclusive and most valued traditional products of Serbia.
This event brings together thousands of visitors and gourmets from all over the region and abroad (especially from Bulgaria), who come to taste and buy this unique specialty made from the highest quality beef, sheep and goat meat, seasoned with local herbs and “ironed” with a bottle during the drying process. The fair has a great, lively atmosphere imbued with merak, where, in addition to the top-quality ironed sausage, other authentic products of the Stara Planina region are promoted, such as the famous Pirot cheese and local wines.
